Patrons Performing Poetry
Please plan to participate in our 'Patrons Performing Poetry Program' to be presented at Family Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in celebration of National Poetry Month. Patrons interesting in participating may select a poem from the Library's collection and register in the Library no later than Friday, April 11. We have a large selection of poetry books to choose from. If you do not wish to perform, please plan to be a part of our audience and enjoy the poetry!
Springo Prizes
Prizes for the Library's Springo Spring Reading Program will be distributed just before Family Night on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 5:45 p.m. If you participated in this program, please plan to attend this event. If you cannot attend, please contact the Library before the event to schedule a time to select your prizes.
National Library Week Events Planned
Lansing Community Library has planned several great events for National Library Week, which will be celebrated April 13-19, 2008. This year, we are celebrating "Wanted Readers!" On Tuesday, April 15, we will feature western stories at Story-time at 10:30 a.m. Family Night will also be held on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., featuring Patrons Performing Poetry. On Saturday, April 19, we will conclude our "Read 100 Stories" program. If you have participated in this program, please be sure all your reading logs have been turned in by this date. There will be other fun activities available in the Library throughout the week.
Library Cards
Lansing Community Library began issuing replacement cards in February. The new cards are more durable and come with a key tag as well. If you have not yet upgraded to the new card, stop in soon to get the new cards. It only takes a few minutes. The old red cards will no longer be valid after April 30, 2008. There is no fee for the Library card upgrade.
Wanted: Readers
Stop by the Library during April and make up a Wanted poster and become a Wanted Reader.
Story Time
The Library hosts a weekly story-time at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. Story-time includes theme-based stories along with a game, craft or other activity. Story-time is geared for preschoolers, but all ages are welcome to participate.
