Lansing Elementary School kindergarten teachers Andrea Rothmeyer, left, and Vickie Kelly, center, receive roses from Chris Cristiano, a member of the Lansing Educational Foundation Fund advisory board. Rothmeyer and Kelly received grants from the organization for $410 each for guided reading materials for their classrooms. Rothmeyer said she and Kelly would combine the money to buy 35 titles, six copies of each, for their classes.

She explained to her students that the money was going to be spent for them, not for herself.
