Mona Hauver and her daughter, Elle, a freshman at Lansing High School, put the finishing touchups on a lion's paw near the high school. Members of the Lansing Lions Booster Club had their annual "Paint the Paws" work day Sunday, Aug. 20, near the high school.

Members of the Knit Wits group at the Leavenworth County Council on Aging knit shawls at their monthly meeting last week. The shawls are given to county residents who are ill or have lost someone. American Legion members participating in a cross-country ride to raise money for scholarships for sons and daughters of service membrs, get their picture taken with Lt. Gen. David Petraeus, commander of Fort Leavenworth. More than 80 riders visited Fort Leavenworth on Saturday, on their way to the Legion's national convention in Salt Lake City.
Amy Briggs, Lansing High freshman, is one of the newcomers LHS coach Rachel Elkins expects to make an immediate impact on the program.
