Basehor Elementary School first-graders Jaxon Bounds and Beck Shorney stand in line Tuesday, Kansas Day, to collect doughnuts and coat them with sugar by shaking them in plastic bags. The students also honored Kansas’ birthday by dressing up as cowboys and cowgirls and making paper sunflowers and Jayhawk puppets.
