Kiwanians Gene and Ada Young and Ray Sherley were recognized Wednesday, July 16, during a retirement celebration at the Leavenworth Country Club. Charlie Gregor, executive vice president of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce, gave a detailed account of their accomplishments and years of service to the local communities. The event was coordinated by the Lansing Kiwanis president, Shawn Wagner, who is not pictured. Nearly 50 Kiwanians and family members were present.
The Leavenworth County Farm Bureau Association presented an award to Wayne Knapp at its annual meeting on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. The plaque honored Wayne for being a member of Farm Bureau for 60 years (1948-2008). Wayne's father, Mike Knapp, had been honored in 1974 for his membership from 1914-1974.
