Stranger Township Volunteer Fire Department chief Ben Hayes, who will step down Thursday after more than 10 years heading the department, shows off one of the new vehicles purchased under his tenure. Hayes said the department has grown greatly — equipment- and personnel-wise — since opening in 1998.
