Nick Flynn at the Metro Classic
The Metro Classic committee recognized some of the local soldiers serving both the military and the wrestling community on March 5 at the Metro Classic. Among those recognized were, from left: Lt. Col. Mike Flynn, a youth wrestling coach and father of Lansing High wrestlers; Lt. Col. Shawn Budke, a former wrestler for the United States Military Academy at West Point and head coach of the Leavenworth County Spartans Wrestling Team; Master Sgt. John Witt, a long-time local youth wrestling coach; Col. Duane Brucker, a former wrestler at Northeast Missouri State; Col. Mike Cabrey, a former wrestler at West Point; and Maj. Erik Hinckley, a two-time Army Freestyle champion wrestler, a coach with the Spartans and the father of two LHS wrestlers.
